History


Built Circa 1854 By George Erwin and remained in the family until 1947.
For most of his life it was the home of Alfred "Alfie" Erwin (1866 - 1946)
who operated a furniture and undertaking business with his brother Henry. "Alfie" was the first Bayfield Reeve to become Warden of Huron County (1924). Purchased In 1947 by Margaret and Rhea Kruke who established
the Village Guild. Purchased in 1971 by Richard and Sara Dick who
continued the business as a gift shop. Purchased in 2002 by Esther and
Jim Howson. New construction + courtyard created at that time.
